Shell produces 'Driven To Extremes' TV series for Discovery Channel

Driven To Extremes on Discovery Channel

Talk about a marketing coup. Petroleum company Shell tapped advertising agency JWT (London) to produce a three-part TV series called Driven To Extremes, to air exclusively on Discovery Channel. Now, before you dismiss this as just another advertising gimmick to promote Shell Helix, please know that the three episodes star no less than actors Tom Hardy, Henry Cavill and Adrien Brody, as well as former Formula 1 driver Mika Salo.

The idea is for them to drive a Nissan Patrol through extreme driving conditions: Hardy and Salo in Siberia ("Road Of Bones"); Cavill and former motorcycle racer Neil Hodgson in the Taklamakan desert in China ("Desert Of Death"); and Brody and Salo in the Ulu Sedili jungle in Malaysia ("Jungle Road"). Think of it as Man Vs. Wild on wheels.

The series started airing second week of March, but you can still catch "Jungle Road" today at 9am. As for the two other episodes, don't worry. They should show up on YouTube pretty soon (if they haven't already).

In the meantime, here are the video teasers for all three episodes.
