Getting a punctured tire might be one of the most common mishaps motorists run into, whether during the daily commute or on a long holiday road trip. It’s not that big of a hassle, but it’s a hassle nonetheless.
Pirelli wants to remove that hassle completely with its Seal Inside technology. Once available only in high-end products like the P Zero, this trademark tech has now made its way to the Cinturato Rosso line, which means it’ll now make its way to more passenger cars and SUVs.

Seal Inside prevents a tire from losing air pressure even after it’s been punctured. The foreign object and the punctured hole must not be wider than 5mm and 6mm in diameter, respectively. The way it works is that Pirelli tires with this technology feature a sealant wrapped on the inside of the tires, and it wraps around an object that punctures the tire. When said object is removed, the sealant then fills the gap, again, preventing air loss.

The Cinturato Rosso with Seal Inside can be had from 16-inch to 20-inch tires, available for sedans, crossovers, and SUVs. Pirelli, however, is reminding motorists that the Seal Inside technology should only be treated as temporary, and a tire must still be properly serviced after a puncture and plugged with a mushroom patch to avoid any further complications.

Pirelli is also warning motorists that any modifications to Cinturato Rosso tires equipped with Seal Inside will void any warranty. The brand has also reiterated that it will refuse to service tires that have been illegally modified, even if they’re existing Pirelli models that have been merely fitted with third-party sealants mimicking the Seal Inside technology. To determine which ones are legit, the Pirelli tires should have the Seal Inside logo on the sidewall.
Pirelli’s new Cinturato Rosso with Seal Inside also needs no added accessories for installation, and it also still allows the usage of nitrogen as well as tire-pressure monitoring systems. For more information, you can visit any authorized Pirelli dealer to inquire.
