General Motors (GM) Southeast Asia recently held its first annual Quality Excellence Awards in Bangkok, Thailand. Of the 23 automotive suppliers it honored "for delivering superior quality," three are located in the Philippines: Amkor Technology in Muntinlupa City; Laguna Auto-Parts Manufacturing in Santa Rosa, Laguna; and ON Semiconductor in Carmona, Cavite.
"Recognition is highly deserved by these silent heroes of the global automotive industry," said GM Southeast Asia operations president Martin Apfel during the awards ceremony held at the Centara Grand at Central Plaza Ladprao. "The companies that took home the Quality Supplier Excellence Awards have proven by their performance that they are among the best automotive suppliers in the world."
To determine the winners of the Quality Excellence and Quality Basic awards, GM Southeast Asia's quality teams analyzed the performance of the region's 1,983 suppliers from July 1, 2011, to June 30, 2012. After tabulating its findings, 23 were named as recipients of the Quality Excellence awards, while 30 were identified for the Quality Basic awards.
"Winning the award for quality excellence is an incredible accomplishment, which demonstrates discipline to execute at the highest levels," said GM Southeast Asia vice president of global purchasing and supply chain Aaron Jones. "To win this award, you have to deliver perfection and flawless execution."
