Top Gear Philippines bags 5 journalism awards

Five awards on our fifth year in automotive writing

Top Gear Philippines and earned citations at the 2009 Henry Ford Awards for excellence in five different automotive journalism categories.

Top Gear editor in chief Vernon B. Sarne bagged the trophy for the Ford Feature Story in Print for his magazine article "A Pony Tale," and the Automotive Online Feature award for his All Will Drive column "Here Comes The Bribe."

Features editor Dinzo Tabamo was lauded for his article "Are You Green-Minded?" in the Environment and Conservation Feature Story category, while associate editor Paulo Rafael Subido received the Automotive Industry Feature Story for Print award for his article "10 Things You Need To Know Before You Buy A Car."

Top Gear lensman Alfred Mendoza's photograph "Ain't No Mountain Rough Enough," featuring the Ford Everest, was cited as the best photograph in the motoring beat.

Judges for the 2009 Henry Ford Awards included Carlos Palanca Memorial Awards for Literature Hall of Famer Alfred Yuson, Transport department undersecretary Anelli Lontoc, and Ford Group Philippines president Rick Baker.
