Toyota Motor Philippines marked a milestone in December when it sold its 600,000th unit in the Philippines.

Toyota Philippines, which has been in the country for 21 years, is the first car company to attain this achievement in the local automotive industry. The 600,000th Toyota vehicle sale was made on December 7, 2009.

"While this remarkable feat is made possible by cooperative efforts of the entire Toyota network, we are most grateful to the 600,000 Toyota customers for their trust and loyalty for the brand," said Raymond Rodriguez, Toyota Philippines first vice president for vehicle sales operations. "We will continue our pursuit of improving our processes to deliver the best for our customers."

The carmaker attributes its recent success to the popularity of the Toyota Vios subcompact car and the Innova multipurpose vehicle.

Toyota Philippines continues to dominate the local automotive industry as it sold 46,193 units in 2009.
