Will Toyota be selling diesel-powered cars in the Philippines?

And should it?
by Patrick Everett Tadeo | Feb 24, 2012

There is a rumor going around that Toyota Motor Philippines is planning to bring in diesel-fed cars to capitalize on the rising demand for these oil-burning vehicles in the market. At the launch of the updated Innova, we took the opportunity to ask the company's president, Michinobu Sugata, if the rumor is true.

"Are we going to bring in diesel-powered cars likes the Vios? No, we have no plans to do that," Sugata said.

So that settles it.

But could this be a roundabout way of saying that another diesel-powered Toyota vehicle may be on its way? After all, Toyota currently sells the diesel-fed Corolla Altis in other parts of the world, like Europe, India and Australia. What do you think?
