BYD has captured the Philippine market with its New Energy Vehicles (NEVs). The brand’s lineup comprises a wide range of plug-in hybrids and fully electric vehicles that cater to all types of Filipino car buyers.
Now that it’s established its footing with its portfolio, BYD Cars Philippines is now starting a movement: Drive Electric, Love Pinas. Launched in partnership with ACMobility and the Department of Tourism, this campaign seeks to promote sustainable travel through electrified drives with BYD’s NEVs. BYD Cars Philippines has also tied this campaign with ACMobility’s goal to expand its charging network, which will further push the adoption of electrification in the market.
This groundbreaking campaign was launched in an equally groundbreaking fashion—with a 22-day electrified road trip across the Philippines. Adventurer Wil Dasovich led the electrified convoy, island-hopping across the islands of Luzon, Visayas, and Mindanao.
The drive kicked off in Laoag, Ilocos Norte with the BYD Shark 6 DMO leading the way. It turned the La Paz Sand Dunes into its playground before making quick work of the highways leading up to Baguio City. Stopovers in Pampanga were also in order, because what would a road trip like this be without passing by the Culinary Capital of the Philippines?

Before heading further south, the BYD fleet made an important stop in Makati City, at the Corinthian Car Park’s 480kW DC charger—the country’s fastest charging station. After the top-up, the convoy drove on.
The BYD vehicles crossed over to the Visayas islands and explored Cebu before heading towards Mindanao. From there, the crew traversed Cagayan de Oro and Davao to further immerse themselves in the various cultures and cuisines that the country has to offer.

The journey came to a close in General Santos City, at which point the Drive Electric. Love Pinas. campaign had already set two new Guinness World Records:
- Most cities visited in a continuous journey by a battery electric vehicle (BEV)
- Most cities visited in a continuous journey by a plug-in hybrid electric vehicle (PHEV)
After a drive across 102 cities and municipalities over the course of two days, BYD Cars Philippines helped show that with its vehicles, range anxiety will never be an issue. This new campaign also proved that going electric doesn’t just help with day-to-day fuel savings—it also opens up the possibilities of exploring more of what our country has to offer in a truly sustainable manner.
