The GAC AION UT packs 400km of range and enough space for the whole family

The latest car in the GAC International Philippines is a fully electric compact hatchback that’s surprisingly versatile and reassuringly capable. Meet the GAC AION UT: Equipped with features beyond its accessible price, it boasts ‘Big Car Energy,’ both literally and figuratively.

But how exactly does this compact hatch express its BCE? It starts in the back. Right away, the trunk features 440 liters of cargo space, and can expand to accommodate more items—or people—during a tailgate party. The vehicle-to-load or V2L function will surely come in handy for the latter, as the 44.12kWh battery packs more than enough juice to go around. When it’s time to plug in, the battery can be fast-charged at up to 64kW, for 30% to 80% in just 24 minutes.

On the road, the AION UT is good for 400km on a full charge, and the spacious cabin gives all five passengers enough room to lounge about. The AION UT delivers all this comfort and capacity in a Milanese-designed frame measuring 4,270mm long with an extended wheelbase of 2,750mm. That gives this hatchback more real estate than most of its competitors, while still keeping a nimble stance and a sensible footprint.

It’s a spry little thing, too. With 134hp and 145Nm of torque on tap, the AION UT can hit the 100kph mark in just over 11sec. For city drives and highway cruises, GAC has also loaded a comprehensive suite of advanced driver-assist systems for a safe and seamless motoring experience. This includes adaptive cruise control, collision warnings, blind-spot detection, and a surround-view camera setup for maximum visibility. The 360-degree video feed is displayed on the 14.6-inch infotainment display—with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto built in. This also serves as the main interface for controlling various features and settings.

With everything it packs, it’s hard to believe that the AION UT stickers at just P1,064,000. And to sweeten the deal even further, the first 400 customers will be able to purchase their new GAC hatch for just P998,000.

Visit your nearest GAC dealership to test-drive and reserve your AION UT today. Available colors are Emerald Green, Rococo White, Seine Silver, Champs-Elysees Beige, and a two-tone finish with an Emerald Green body and a Rococo White roof.
