For those of you who missed the broadcast of this year's 24 Hours of Le Mans, Audi has prepared a 14-minute video that pretty much summarizes its latest campaign in the historic one-day endurance race. Audi has every right to produce such a video because, well, the German carmaker's No. 2 R18 TDI car won the contest--a mere 13 seconds ahead of a pursuing Peugeot 908. The winning car was piloted by the triumvirate of Andre Lotterer, Marcel Fassler and Benoit Treluyer.
Audi actually fielded in three cars, including the defending champion team (No. 1) of Mike Rockenfeller, Romain Dumas and Timo Bernhard. The third car (No. 3) was driven by Tom Kristensen, Allan McNish and Rinaldo Capello. Unfortunately, these two cars were taken out by huge crashes.
Watch the video (if only to see the breathtaking accidents) and witness the Audi crew take a roller-coaster ride through excitement, anxiety, panic and then jubilation. Excellent cinematography, if we may say so.
