Bella Cañete, who is not old enough to get a driver’s license, is currently in at the Meikarta Speedway in Cikarang, Indonesia, competing at this year’s Indonesian Drift Series (IDS)—under the Women’s Drift Challenge (WDC). She drifts in the Pro-Am division, and recently placed first in the qualifying round with a perfect 100 score. If she keeps this up, she’ll bag her fifth WDC Pro-Am championship.
Hailing from San Fernando, La Union, the 14-year-old—yes, 14—has been competing behind the wheel since she was about seven. Cañete got her start in karting, and after collecting more than a few trophies there, she shifted her focus to drifting and quickly ascended to podium finishes and more accolades.

Aside from the women’s division, the young drifter is also competing in the New-Gen class, where she already holds three titles. However, she did end with a second-place finish in the last round and endured a couple of nasty crashes. It looks like this season is a time of redemption and mental toughness for Cañete.
