There is a ‘brand new’ Lexus LFA waiting for a new owner out there

How did that happen?

The Lexus LFA is the kind of car that will probably never be made ever again. It’s unlikely we’ll ever see Lexus or Toyota building a carbon fiber-bodied grand tourer with a non-turbocharged V10 that wails to over 9,000rpm. It’s a watershed moment for the brand, and we’re glad the LFA existed.

It’s been over a decade since LFA production wrapped up, but the car has become an icon and a legend. When it was introduced, it carried a base price tag of around $400,000, but these days you’re looking at about $600,000 to $800,000 for a super low mileage example.

But over in Australia, it seems there is a near-zero kilometer example that might be looking for a new owner. So, how did that happen?

Lexus LFA

As it turns out, a Toyota dealer had to buy a previously unsold LFA in order to be able to register the car in the future. The car had to comply to the Road Vehicle Standards Act over there to avoid a mountain of paperwork to get it road legal. Mind you, the car was reported sold and reported as a sale in the country’s sales tally. But Lexus Australia said the car sitting in the dealership has yet to driven home.

So, somewhere in Australia is a ‘brand new’ LFA sitting in a Toyota dealership. The dealership in question has not been named, and remains as a showroom piece...just like the LFA in Lexus Manila. Mind you, the LFA display unit in the country has moved around a bit, so we reckon the one in Australia has much lower mileage.

There are little to no details about the ‘brand new’ LFA, nor was a price was mentioned or disclosed. But should an enthusiast with deep pockets make an offer, we might be looking at a million dollars at the very least.
