To say BYD Cars Philippines has been relentless with its launches would feel like an understatement. One after another, it’s continued to bring in new models, and recently it’s just unveiled yet another: the BYD Sealion 5 DM-i.
It’s a new subcompact crossover that packs BYD’s signature hybrid technology and comes with competitive pricing that’s shaking up the segment. Here, we’re going to take a closer look. Read on to learn more about the all-new BYD Sealion 5 DM-i.
BYD Sealion 5 DM-i 2025 Philippine prices

The Sealion 5 is only available in one spec, and that’s priced at P1.248 million. For a limited time, BYD Cars Philippines is offering it at an introductory price of P1.198 million or with an P88,000 down payment.
Exterior

The Sealion 5 is technically in a segment lower than the Sealion 6, but the former measures similarly to the latter. The Sealion 5 stands at 4,738mm long, 1,860mm wide, and 1,710mm tall with a 2,712mm wheelbase. Ground clearance is listed at 156mm, while curb weight is 1,675kg.
In terms of design, the Sealion 5 has a more stylish and aggressive-looking front fascia than its stablemates. The almost signature chrome trim is still there, but it’s placed right above a wide, gaping grille on the front clip. The headlights appear to be sharper, and the lines up front, on the sides, and at the rear give the car a beefier, more chiseled look. There’s also bright silver trim on the C-pillar, similar to what you’ll find in the Speaking of the back, there’s a lightbar stretching the width of the tailgate.
Color options for the Sealion 5 are namely: Deep Sea Blue, Cosmos Black, Aurora White, and Harbour Grey.

Interior

Inside, the Sealion 5 DM-i gets an abundance of leather and soft-touch materials. Gloss black plastic trim and silver accents are found on the dash and center console. The majority of the cabin is adorned in beige and brown, which makes for a lively, multicolor interior.
In true BYD fashion, a couple of displays are found up front, the bigger one in the middle featuring the rotating mechanism that BYD has always equipped its cars with.
Storage-wise, there’s a cubby underneath the center armrest and a small space for storage in front of the gearshift lever.
Engine and specs

Powering the Sealion 5 DM-i is a familiar hybrid setup that comprises a 1.5-liter gasoline engine that generates charge for the 12.96kWh BYD Blade Battery. This helps the front-mounted electric motor produce a total of 194hp and 300Nm of torque.
Underneath, the Sealion 5 DM-i gets a MacPherson strut up front and a multi-link suspension at the back. Stopping power is handled by ventilated and solid discs all around.
Extra features

The Sealion 5’s aforementioned rotating display is a 10.1-inch infotainment system that comes with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto connectivity. It comes with a six-speaker setup and is paired with the 8.8-inch LCD instrument cluster. Both front seats are manually adjustable, while the steering wheel has adjustments for reach and rake.
The vehicle gets dual-zone automatic climate controls and three different drive modes. It has an electronic parking brake with an auto-hold function, as well as safety tech like hill-start assist and hill-descent control. A tire-pressure monitoring system also comes as standard.
A smart keyless entry system with a push-to-start ignition is also available in the Sealion 5, and it can also be operated with the use of an NFC card.
