Do you believe in destiny? That a car and driver meant for each will always find their way? If you don’t, well, you have to know Gerald Hidalgo’s story.
Thirty years ago on Christmas day, Gerald’s uncle took him out for a ride in a 1978 Nissan Fairlady Z. Hidalgo—still a kid back then—absolutely fell in love with the car, promising himself that he would buy one as soon as he had the money. “Pag ako yumaman, I’m gonna buy a car like this,” he said.

True enough, many years later, he would get a chance to buy a Fairlady Z of his own—one which he customized in his own shop, too. You might have even seen the vehicle on display at a car show or two. So yeah, you could say he’s come a pretty long way.
Here’s the kicker: Hidalgo ended up buying the exact same car from that Christmas day joyride without even knowing it. “I think this car was destined to be mine,“ he mused. If this isn’t proof of destiny, we don’t know what is.
