Some iconic motorsports legends need to be immortalized, whether through statues, documentaries, or even pop-culture symbols like Lego. Tomas Letenay, better known as Tomoell on Lego Ideas, has created a tribute set for the late British rally champion Colin McRae and his Subaru Impreza.
The set features a detailed Subaru Impreza figure, complete with a rally cockpit, an EJ20 replica, and a full-size spare tire in the trunk. There’s also a modular dust-cloud system made up of individual sections to customize your display. And of course, a custom minifigure of Colin McRae in his blue racing suit is included, too.

Tomoell designed the set with three display modes: drift, jump, and service park. For a drift display, the Subaru Impreza’s wheels can be turned at an angle, while the dust clouds can be attached behind it to replicate a high-speed power slide. The jump display, meanwhile, places the model on an elevated baseplate and replicates the Impreza flying over a crest. Lastly, there are also jackstands and a hydraulic floor jack to set up a service display for the Impreza.

Colin McRae and his Subaru Impreza won the World Rally Championship in 1995, becoming the first British driver to win the prestigious rally series. McRae also won the British Rally Championship in 1991 and 1992, also with Subaru, but with a Legacy (the Impreza hadn’t been made yet).

The Colin McRae Subaru Impreza Lego set will be reviewed by Lego only once it has reached 10,000 votes. The review phase will determine whether this set is produced and made available to the public. As of writing, there are 6,274 votes on the website. If you want to help turn this set into a reality, you can vote on Lego Ideas’ official website here.
