We assume it’s extremely difficult to hold a proper wedding these days, with the looming pandemic and all. There’s just too much to think about, enforcing proper safety protocols and all that at a huge reception.
It’s either you limit your guests or just hold the entire thing in a venue big enough to fit a hundred people standing at least a meter apart. The latter would be possible, but it’ll just be too damn expensive. But for this couple, they found a workaround: A drive-through wedding reception.
The selected wedding locations—the chapel and reception area—were both open-air venues to start with, so that meant Arjanmar Rebeta (the groom) and Khaye Medina (the bride) could invite more people as compared with a closed-venue celebration. With the addition of the drive-through reception, even more guests were allowed to join while observing proper social distancing, the groom told reportr.
The reception proper was held at the isawan just outside the Parish of the Holy Sacrifice in UP Diliman. Judging by the photos, the guests invited for the drive-through reception simply parked along the street and went down to grab a bite from the buffet, which by the way, consisted mostly of street food.
One of the best parts about this is that thanks to the setup, the couple only spent about P10,000 for everything. It’s frugal, and we like it because it sure does look like a lot of fun. As a matter of fact, the post has already gone viral as of this writing. You can check out some of the photos from the wedding below:
Prior to the wedding ceremony, the couple also apparently did a prenup shoot “around the world.” Well, sort of. The photos were taken around somewhere in Marikina, where a lot of streets are actually named after different countries. That’s one way to “travel” during this pandemic, we suppose. Anyway, you can check out more of the feel-good photos below:
What’s your take on all this? Do you like the whole gimmick?
