Sure, the label ‘Instagram-worthy’ is thrown around a lot these days. In this case, though? We think its use its use is warranted.
In case you haven’t heard, the Cebu-Cordova Link Expressway (CCLEX) has finally been inaugurated down south. No, you can’t drive on it yet—but a few individuals have been allowed to tour the new piece of infrastructure on four wheels.
One of the lucky people who’ve been allowed into the CCLEX construction area ahead of its public opening is local infrastructure buff Dimitri Valencia, also known as Pinoy Joyride. You can check out his first drive along the brand-new 8.9km expressway in the video below:

NEWS YOU MIGHT HAVE MISSED:
SM City North EDSA’s indoor electric go-kart track will have its soft opening on May 1
A 2km Subic-bound portion of SFEX will be closed from 9am to 4pm daily until May 16
As you can see from Valencia’s footage, there’s a reason why CCLEX has yet to be open to the public: Construction personnel as still applying some finishing touches on the nearly-finished project. Metro Pacific Tollways (MPTC) says the public can expect more news regarding an opening date soon.
When it finally does open, it will connect Cebu City to Mactan Island and will supposedly cater to nearly all modes of transportation—bicycles, motorbikes, cars, and even pedestrians. It will also feature a fully electronic toll system that uses RFIDs, though toll gates will initially accept cash to give motorists more time to adjust.
Just keep in mind that there’s an 80kph speed limit on the thing. Tell us, do you plan on driving this regularly when it opens?
