Affordable crossovers from the People’s Republic are a dime a dozen in our market these days. These bang-for-your-buck models have just kept coming in left and right over the past few years.
Despite that saturation, however, there are arguably two models that still manage to stand out among the pack: the MG ZS T and the Geely Coolray. These were the two crossovers that really challenged the status quo when they entered the local subcompact-crossover segment a while back. On one hand, Anton had the new turbocharged ZS that packed a 1.3-liter turbocharged gasoline mill that generates 114hp and 150Nm of torque with a four-speed automatic transmission. On the other, Drei had the recently facelifted Coolray with the same 1.5-liter turbopetrol capable of 175hp and 255Nm of torque paired with a seven-speed dual-clutch transmission.
