Geely has finally revealed the full specs of its much-anticipated subcompact electric hatchback, the Geely EX2. For this spec-sheet brawl, we’ll be pitting the entry-level EX2 Pro variant against BYD’s popular Seagull electric city car. Let’s see how the new kid on the block stacks up against the established model.

At 4,135mm long, 1,805mm wide, and 1,580mm tall, the EX2 is 355mm longer, 90mm wider, and just as tall as the Seagull. Moving to ground clearance, there’s a decent 161mm between the ground and the car—a massive 41mm advantage over the BYD. This makes the EX2 about a size class larger than the Seagull.

The EX2 is Geely’s new B-segment BEV hatchback. It has a rear-mounted 114hp electric motor driving the rear wheels. Another not-so-common feature is its 70-liter front trunk, aka frunk, in addition to its decent-sized 375-liter rear cargo area.

The Seagull is BYD’s electric city car; it’s technically an A-segment hatch. It has a more conventional layout with a 74hp electric motor mounted up front driving the front wheels. As expected, this has no frunk. The Seagull’s cargo capacity is a more modest 230 liters.

2025 BYD Seagull review

When it comes to passenger capacity, the larger EX2 is a full five-seater, while the Seagull is strictly a four-seater. The little BYD also lacks rear A/C vents. Meanwhile, in the safety department, these cars offer the usual ABS, stability control, and traction control. Both have four airbags.

Being a lower trim, the EX2 Pro does lose out on some items that the Seagull has. The base Geely has to make do with steel wheels with covers, while the Seagull gets alloys. In the tech department, the lower-trim Geely skips the wireless phone charger. Both electric hatchbacks have Apple CarPlay and Android Auto; the BYD, though, features a wireless setup.

How much do these BEV hatchbacks cost? The EX2 Pro has a sticker price of P938,000, while the smaller Seagull carries a higher P968,000 price tag. Unlike the BYD, the Geely is also offered with a higher Max variant that costs an extra P100K. The range-topping EX2’s upgrades include 16-inch alloys, two more airbags, and ADAS, to name a few.

Still not sure which one to go for? Check out the spec sheet table we prepared and let us know which of these two small electric hatchbacks you’d choose.
