Geely reintroduced itself in the Philippines with a bang before the pandemic hit, and over the years, it has established itself as one of the Chinese carmakers to look out for.
The years that came after, however, weren’t the best for the brand. After controversy hit, new management took over and the brand slowed down its activities for a time. But more recently, Geely has started to revamp its lineup with modern and electrified offerings, and it’s signaling a resurgency for the automaker.
Its latest introduction is the Geely EX5 EM-i, a promising plug-in hybrid SUV that aims at a stacked compact segment filled with the likes of the BYD Sealion 6 DM-i and the Ford Territory Hybrid. Variants and prices of the Geely EX5 EM-i 2026
Two variants are available for the EX5 EM-i. Both come with identical powertrains, but the higher spec has more bells and whistles. The range starts at P1.288 million for the Pro trim and P1.468 million for the Max.

The Geely EX5 EM-i measures 4,740mm long, 1,905mm wide, and 1,685mm tall with a 2,755mm wheelbase. The base Pro weighs 1,730kg when wet, while the Max comes in at 1,770kg. The Pro gets 18-inch alloys shod in Giti tires, while the Max sits on 19-inch ‘low-drag’ wheels with Goodyear tires. The wheel design also differs between the two variants.
Speaking of design, the EX5 EM-i has a very clean-looking exterior. The front end is simple, with the stylish headlights flanking the shiny trim at the end of the hood. The updated Geely logo adorns the nose, and body panels take the place of a large grille. Air intakes are still found underneath, providing contrast along with the triangular accents by the fog-lamp housings. There’s a bit of black and gray plastic claddings underneath, just enough to add a little ruggedness while keeping the classy look.
The rear is as simply drawn as the front, with a lightbar on the tailgate and the bumper underneath making up the accents. There’s a subtle spoiler up top as well.

On the inside, the Geely EX5 EM-i gets a plethora of leather and soft-touch materials. The cabin can be spec’d in either an Amber Brown or a Sapphire Blue finish. There’s an abundance of storage spaces all around, with cubbies and trays aplenty for front passengers. Both rows are roomy even for taller passengers, and the seats are quite comfortable as well.
Engine and specs of the Geely EX5 EM-i 2026
The Geely EX5 EM-i packs a 1.5-liter four-pot gasoline mill paired with an electric motor. Said motor churns out 214hp and 262Nm and is powered by an 18.4kWh lithium-iron phosphate battery. Important numbers to note here include the 1,000km maximum combined range with its 51-liter fuel tank and the 105km electric-only range. This PHEV can also do 0 to 100kph in eight ticks, and reach speeds of up to 170kph.
Geely claims the vehicle can easily achieve fuel-economy figures north of 20km/L. Charging times with a DC fast charger are at 20min from 20-80%, and 25-100% in three hours with an AC charger. The battery can take up to a 30kW DC charger and a 6.6kW AC charger.
The EX5 EM-i is underpinned by independent MacPherson struts up front and a multi-link suspension at the rear. Stopping power is handled by front ventilated and rear solid discs.
Extra features of the Geely EX5 EM-i 2026
The 15.4-inch infotainment system with the 10.2-inch LCD instrument cluster both come as standard, with the former equipped with Apple CarPlay connectivity. Six speakers come as standard, but opting for the higher trim will get you the 16-speaker Flyme audio setup.
The higher variant also gets an additional wireless charger, a head-up display for the driver, ventilation for the front seats, and power adjustment with a memory function for the driver’s seat. A panoramic sunroof and a power tailgate is also added into the mix, along with 256-color ambient lighting.
Standard tech here include an electronic parking brake with auto brake hold, adaptive cruise control, lane-keep assist, traffic-sign detection, and front-collision mitigation. The top-of-the-line option comes with added rear cross-traffic alert and braking, blind-spot detection, a 360-degree-view camera, and front parking sensors. A reversing camera with rear sensors are available by default.
