Remember that dream we all collectively had last year that Rockstar Games announced GTA 6, and dropped a pop culture-blasting trailer for it that broke the internet? Well you’ll never believe this, but we’ve gone back and checked: it did actually happen.
That sense of not-quite-realism likely comes from the fact that nothing has been shown or uttered about GTA 6 since December 2023. Now here we are almost a year later, none the wiser except for a reassuring comment by Take Two boss Strauss Zelnick that the most anticipated game in the world is still on target to release in 2025.

In the company’s latest financial briefing – always fertile ground for a good GTA hint - Zelnick clarified that it’s still expected “fall of calendar [year] 2025”.
Rumours had been circulating around the great games industry sewing circle that the project had been delayed internally. Neither Rockstar nor Take Two commented on that speculation, and Zelnick’s statement during the investor call appears to debunk any such notion.

In other words: hoard that annual leave like a squirrel stockpiling winter nuts. You’re going to need it.
GTA 6 promises a different take on the well-established open world formula, with a duo of playable protagonists expected and a Bonnie and Clyde-esque love story at the center of it all. We’re speculating now, but we imagine there’ll also be copious savage takedowns of modern pop culture and plenty of autos to - er, theft.
The question is, how many of the series’ iconic vehicles will reappear in this instalment? We’ve already spotted a Banshee in the trailer, so our hopes for a glistening, high-fidelity Cossie spring eternal.
