Last month, Isuzu Philippines Corporation (IPC) confirmed that the facelifted D-Max—the truck unveiled back in October—was launching on June 20. Well, today’s the day, and we finally have the truck in our market.

We were actually able to drive the updated pickup in Thailand a few months back before this launch, so don’t be confused if the interior shows right-hand-drive models and the plates in some of the photos read ‘V-Cross’—those are Thai-spec models. Anyway, we finally have the specs and prices of the 2024 Isuzu D-Max here, so without further ado, here’s everything you need to know about it.

Exterior

In terms of size, the D-Max sees no changes. Standard variants still stand 5,277mm long, 1,880mm wide, and 1,810mm tall. The numbers slightly vary for the other variants, but worth noting is the availability of the long bed in the Single Cab 4x4—this one is listed at 5,325mm long. Across the range, the wheelbase is standard at 3,125mm.

Ground clearance is listed at 240mm for the LS-A and LS-E variants. It drops to 235mm for the LT 4x4 and 220mm for the Single Cab 4x4, and for the 4x2 versions of those it goes further down to 195mm.

As far as the design goes, as mentioned previously, it looks more aggressive than before. You might not notice the changes, but there are quite a few up front. The grille is now wider and bigger, and there’s no longer a gap between this and the gray bumper trim. The headlights now have a more modern-looking signature, and it easily looks sleeker than before. Isuzu also added black trim atop the front fascia, seemingly separating the hood panel.

Interior

Just like the outside, the cabin mostly retains its layout. It’s still the same as before with a mix of plastics, soft-touch materials, and RS trim. It also comes standard with full leather seats. No changes in terms of legroom and headroom, of course.

As for the Single Cab versions, you only get front-row seats with some space behind them.

Engine and specs

The D-Max retains its 4JJ3-TCX Blue Power engine, which is a 3.0-liter four-cylinder turbodiesel that puts out 187hp and 450Nm of torque. The RZ4E option also remains, this one being the 1.9-liter diesel engine that generate 148hp and 350Nm of torque. Transmission options for both powertrains are a six-speed manual and a six-speed automatic.

The brakes are standard across the range, with ventilated discs up front and drum brakes at the rear. Same goes for the suspension setup, with front double wishbone coil springs and rear leaf springs.

Extra features

The 2024 D-Max comes with a host of safety tech for the top-spec variant. There are advanced driver assist systems (ADAS) available. LS-A variants get a nine-inch infotainment system with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto paired with a 4.2-inch digital instrument cluster. LS-E variants, meanwhile, get a bigger 10.1-inch head unit with a seven-inch cluster.

As for parking aids, a reversing camera with rear sensors comes as standard. The top-spec D-Max gets a 360-degree-view camera as a bonus. Other top-spec-exclusive features include rain-sensing wipers, dual-zone automatic climate control, and remote start.

The biggest addition to the arsenal is the ‘Rough Terrain Mode,’ a feature built specifically for off-road driving. This works in tandem with the rear-locking differential to control traction across slippery terrain. Essentially, the technology applies brakes to the wheels without traction to provide more torque to the ones that do have grip.
