Kai Sotto makes his brand-new Toyota Hiace Super Grandia look like a Veloz

When you’re tall, choosing a car can be an issue. The average Filipino can fit inside, say, a subcompact crossover, but vertically gifted individuals will not. Just ask our 6’2” publisher Carlo Chungunco.

But in the case of someone like Kai Sotto—a professional basketball player who towers over everyone at 7’3”—it’s even slimmer pickings. But recently, he was able to purchase a brand-new vehicle that we reckon would fit his rather long frame: a Toyota Hiace Super Grandia.

What’s funny, though, is that if you take a look at the photo he shared, Sotto makes the Super Grandia look small. For reference, the range-topping people-hauler stands at 5.3 meters long and 1.99 meters tall. Beside Sotto, the Super Grandia looks like a Veloz. Hell, the 22-year-old athlete’s shoulders are even higher than the van’s roof.

Of course, what’s important is the size of the cabin, which we’re sure Sotto won’t have any problems with. The Toyota Hiace Super Grandia’s power-adjustable second-row captain seats with butterfly headrests and Ottomans can be slid all the way back to open up more legroom for its passengers. The only problem we see here, though, is that Sotto might have to take up the space of all three rows on one side of the vehicle with his seat pulled all the way to the rear. But I’m sure he already knew that was going to happen.

What do you guys think? If not the Hiace Super Grandia, which other vehicle would you recommend to Sotto?
