Exterior

Like we said, the ZS is all grown up—not just in terms of tech and powertrain, but also in terms of size. The previous-generation model measured 4,314mm long, 1,809mm wide, and 1,648mm tall. This all-new model stands 16mm longer and 9mm wider, albeit 13mm shorter. Ground clearance is a respectable 140mm.
The all-new ZS gets a wide, gaping grille adorns the front fascia, flanked by sleek, swept-back headlamps, and it’s more aggressive-looking than its predecessor, and you could say that it follows the direction MG’s design language is headed towards. Out back, MG keeps it clean with the ZS—no futuristic lightbars and whatnot. It gets bulky plastic cladding underneath, though.

The base variant gets 16-inch alloy wheels, the Luxury trim has 17s, while the Sport and Hybrid+ have 18s. Color options include Diamond Red Metallic, Black Pearl Metallic, Dover White, Lunar Grey Metallic, and Sloane Silver Metallic, depending on the variant.
Interior

The inside boasts a simple and classy layout, with trapezoidal A/C vents on the dash, matching the flat-bottom steering wheel. The large infotainment system is also front and center inside the cabin. In the top-spec trim, the interior is adorned in a mix of leather and hard plastics finished in mostly black with a few silver accents here and there.
Cargo space is listed at 443 liters and expands to 1,457 liters with the rear seats folded down.
Engine and specs

Three engine configurations across the stable are available. It starts with the 1.5-liter naturally aspirated four-cylinder gasoline engine churning out 108hp and 141Nm of torque mated to an eight-speed CVT available in the Comfort and Luxury. The Sport trim gets a 1.5-liter turbopetrol that puts out 168hp and 275Nm paired with a seven-speed CVT. The top-of-theline Hybrid+, meanwhile, packs the 1.5-liter gasoline engine with an electric motor that in total generates 194hp and 250Nm mated to a three-speed hybrid transmission.
All variants have the same underpinnings, with the suspension system comprised of MacPherson struts up front and a torsion beam out back. Disc brakes all around provide stopping power.
Extra features
The ZS comes standard with a 10.25-inch touchscreen display with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto connectivity and four speakers. The turbo and hybrid variants get bigger 12.3-inch infotainment systems with six speakers in total.
Other tech exclusive in the turbocharged and hybrid ZS versions include automatic climate control, front-seat heaters, and advanced driver assist systems courtesy of the MG Pilot suite. There’s blind-spot monitoring, lane-change assist, rear cross-traffic alert, lane-departure warning and lane-keep assist, forward-collision warning, and adaptive cruise control. The Comfort and Luxury variants get none of those—they only get standard cruise control.
Other standard tech across the range are hill-start assist, hill-descent control, speed-sensing door locks, and a tire-pressure monitoring system, among others.
