As we at Top Gear Philippines give you updates from Mitsubishi’s efforts at the 2024 Asia Cross Country Rally, there was one car that caught our attention. Of course, it’s the Triton rally truck that’s the main attraction.

But aside from that, Mitsubishi also brought along six support vehicles to help the Triton to victory. Among those includes what is perhaps our favorite kei car from the Diamond Star, the Mitsubishi Delica Mini. A pair of them, to be exact.

The adorable little kei car isn’t there just for show, either. The specialized Delica Mini will at select checkpoints throughout the rally, ready to give some backup to the Triton rally truck if needed. While it won’t face the same conditions as the Triton, the support vehicle will still go through rough roads and some challenging terrain.

For its support vehicle duties, the Delica Mini gets some special equipment to perform its tasks more effectively. For starters, it comes with all-terrain tires, and yes, Yokohama makes all-terrains that small. It then wears Work CRAG T-GRABICII alloy wheels.

A roof tray has also been fitted, along with four driving lights. It even comes with a ladder mounted to the tailgate for easier access to the tray on the roof. As far as we know, the mechanicals are untouched from stock. The same goes for its interior.

Mitsubishi support vehicles

Aside from the Delica Mini, Mitsubishi fielded Delica D:5 and Outlander PHEV support vehicles. One of the Delica D:5 support cars will be used by team director Hiroshi Masuoka to inspect the course where the Tritons compete. It’s equipped with an aluminum engine guard and is lifted by approximately 20 mm using dedicated front and rear suspension. Meanwhile, the Outlander PHEV is mostly stock.

Mitsubishi Delimaru

Mitsubishi Motors is going all out in this year’s Asia Cross Country Rally. After Toyota took the win from them last year, the company is hungrier than ever to reclaim that title. It’s too early to tell who will win, but it’s looking like another exciting battle between Toyota and Mitsubishi.
