Last year, Rolls-Royce turned the lights out on the Cullinan. No, the carmaker didn’t bin the controversial luxo-SUV, it simply gave the car a sinister murdered-out look and a bit more speed to bring it in line with its Black Badge brethren, the Wraith, Ghost, and Dawn.
At the time, Rolls-Royce said “the Cullinan Black Badge brings the darkest and most urban statement of Black Badge yet.” Well, to double down on that statement, it flew full-time ‘automotive culture photographer’ and part-time hair-follicle farmer Mark Riccioni out to Los Angeles to shoot the very black car in a very urban environment. Oh, and Mark just so happened to bump into some of SoCal’s coolest car and bike culture on the way.
Along with all the standard enhancements you get on a Black Badge over a standard Cully (deep breath...a bit more power, smoked-out chrome bits, a bad and boujee gloss-black chrome Spirit of Ecstasy, 22-inch forged alloy wheels with black accents, red brake calipers, and a bassy exhaust note), the car was also pimped with what Rolls-Royce has dubbed a ‘Bespoke Urban Photography Recreation Module.’ Put simply, it’s a trunk full of enviable hypebeast swag, including Sennheiser headphones, Persol sunglasses, Supreme clothes, a DJI drone, a ritzy water bottle, and half an Apple store.
During the dead of night, Mark photographed the Cullinan Black Badge against LA’s best lowriders, tuned imports, hot rods, and custom bikes. So, check out the amazing images below. And if you want to see them for yourself, all you have to do is hop on a flight or head down to the ‘King of the Night’ exhibition on display at the Rolls-Royce Beverly Hills showroom from March.
