The Suzuki Carry is one of the most beloved cars in the Philippines. This little truck has remained inexpensive, reliable, and practical for generations. And honestly speaking, the dropside Carry makes for a very cute pickup.
While it has been consistently credited for its versatility towards the needs of business owners and operators, the Suzuki Carry does not get enough buzz for its malleable silhouette. Tuners and modifiers in Suzuki’s home market of Japan love playing around with the Carry’s looks and some even tinker with its small, but capable engine.

Japanese tuner Fusion chose to just modify this Suzuki Carry’s exterior, but with its new Datsun-looking design, it looks like this little truck could burn some serious rubber.

The Carry’s fascia has been completely reworked to now support a long rectangular face with round headlights, and a trapezoidal grille. Fusion took a lot of inspiration from the Datsun 1200, one of Nissan’s most popular sedans from the ’70s.
This pickup would look straight out of that era if not for its cool silver paint job, and shiny new 14-inch wheels. The sheen from those modifications takes the Carry into modern times while still embodying some Datsun nostalgia.

Under the truck bed, all remain standard for a JDM Suzuki Carry. The 658cc engine has been untouched, but it is unclear whether this unit was an FWD or 4x4 variant. For comparison, the Carry in the Philippines is powered by a 1,462cc engine with an FWD layout, far different from the kei truck-spec in Japan.
Out of all the Carry customizations out there, this has to be one of our favorites. It’s clean and simple, but still invokes a lot of nostalgia and emotion. These probably won’t ever make it to the Philippines, but perhaps if Fusion chooses to mod our market’s Carry trucks, it’ll get a kick out of their 95hp powertrains.
