Word on the street is that the Toyota Tamaraw will be launched in the Philippines in October. While Toyota Motor Philippines (TMP) has yet to confirm anything at the moment, what it has done is share more details on the all-new model via its website.
TMP has released specs on each of the five variants it will be offering for the next-gen Tamaraw. In this article, we’re going to take a deep dive into each one. Let’s get to it.

2024 Toyota Tamaraw Dropside HI specs

What could be considered the range-topping Tamaraw is the Dropside HI trim, which is, as the name implies, a dropside truck. It measures 5,305mm long, 1,795mm wide, and 1,711mm tall with a 3,085mm wheelbase. It weighs 1,710kg and has a payload capacity of 1,100kg.
It’s dubbed ‘HI’ because it has the most powerful engine configuration in the range. It’s the 2.4-liter 2GD-FTV turbodiesel that churns our 148hp at 3,400rpm and 400Nm of torque between 1,600 to 2,000rpm. It comes mated to a six-speed automatic transmission.
The Tamaraw Dropside HI also comes with 16-inch alloy wheels and LED headlamps with DRLs on the outside and a seven-inch infotainment system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto connectivity on the inside. It’s the only variant that comes with ABS and EBD as standard, as well as airbags for both the passenger and the driver.
2024 Toyota Tamaraw Utility Van LWB specs

Up next is the Tamaraw Utility Van LWB, short for ‘long wheelbase.’ It measures as long and wide as the Dropside HI, but it’s taller at 2,100mm. It also has the same wheelbase at 3,085mm—it’s only labeled LWB because this body type can be had with a shorter wheelbase.
The Utility Van LWB is powered by the same 2.4-liter 2GD-FTV turbodiesel with 148hp, but in this variant, maximum torque is down to 343Nm at 1,400-2,800rpm. It can also only be had with a five-speed manual gearbox.
The Utility Van LWB also doesn’t come with creature comforts on the inside as it gets just a 2DIN head unit that at the very least has Bluetooth connectivity. It also sits on steelies and gets halogen headlamps. No safety features here—no ABS, EBD, or airbags whatsoever. At the rear, however, it gets bench seats for more passengers with air-conditioning in the cabin to boot.
2024 Toyota Tamaraw Utility Van SWB specs

Moving onto the Tamaraw Utility Van SWB, it measures the same as the LWB but has a shorter 2,750mm wheelbase and its overall length is only 4,970mm.
The Tamaraw Utility Van SWB also gets a different engine: the 2.0-liter 1TR-FE gasoline powertrain. This puts out 137hp at 5,600rpm and 183Nm at 4,000rpm and is mated to a five-speed manual tranny.
The Utility Van SWB sits on steelies, gets halogen headlamps, and comes with bench seats in the rear cabin with full air-conditioning. No safety bits, either. Same same as its bigger sibling, basically.
2024 Toyota Tamaraw Aluminum Van specs

The fourth variant in the lineup is the Tamaraw Aluminum Van. This one boasts the same specs as the Utility Van LWB—2.4-liter turbodiesel with 148hp and 343Nm and paired with a six-speed manual.
As with the others, it sits on steelies and gets halogen headlamps. It doesn’t have rear seats, though, as it gets an aluminum container for a rear cabin. It also doesn’t get ABS, EBD, and airbags.
2024 Toyota Tamaraw Dropside

Last of the five variants is the Tamaraw Dropside, which is the same as the top-of-the-line trim but with the tamer 148hp, 343Nm 2.4-liter 2GD-FTV turbodiesel under its hood. It also comes with a five-speed manual instead of an automatic.
Its interior has also been downgraded a bit, as it only gets a 2DIN head unit. It also doesn’t get safety features.
2024 Toyota Tamaraw conversion options

TMP also shared possible conversion options for the Tamaraw. These include the patrol van, ambulance, and refrigerated van care of TMP Conversion & Accessories (C&A). TMP C&A also offers school bus, freezer van, telco van, insulated van, and patient transport options.
Toyota Mobility Solutions Philippines (TMSPH), meanwhile, offers camping car, food truck, and pet-grooming conversions. Other conversions courtesy of TMSPH include mobile store, mobile service vehicle, and fire truck options.
2024 Toyota Tamaraw launch date and prices

As mentioned in a previous article, there are now rumors that TMP might be launching the all-new Toyota Tamaraw in October. TMP is now accepting reservations for the new Tamaraw as well, and has already provided details on financing options—including a weekly payment plan—via Toyota Financial Services. As far as prices go, however, there aren’t any available yet. Once TMP releases anything official, we’ll keep you guys posted.
