The New Year is here. For most cyclists, this means one last holiday ride before work resumes. The roads around Metro Manila are refreshingly empty on days around Christmas and New Year, with the cooler temperatures and holiday displays great for night rides.

But before heading out, you have to make sure your bikes are in good condition. In case you haven’t had time to get bikes overhauled, or you’re in the market for good deals on upgrades and accessories, you still have time to do it before the year really begins.

And if you happen to live in the Quezon City area, one of the local neighborhood bike shops you can visit for all things cycling-related is Built Cycles.

Built Cycles currently has two branches: one in Poblacion, Makati and another in Kalayaan Avenue, Diliman, Quezon City. The Quezon City branch opened amid the pandemic cycling boom sometime in 2021 and has since become one of our go-to locations in the area for bike overhauls and maintenance, spare parts, and quick fixes. My husband and I recently got our bikes overhauled at the bike shop before taking them along on a holiday getaway to Sagada.

Built Cycles is a welcoming and friendly establishment, offering a good selection of parts for mountain, road, fixed-gear, and gravel bikes. Built Cycles also happens to have a coffee shop on-site that doubles as a waiting area, so you can chill out or grab coffee while waiting for YOUR bikes to get serviced. If you’re transporting bikes by car, there are a few parking slots right in front of the shop, and of course, bike racks.

Built Cycles provides a range of services from bike washes, tune-ups, and minor repairs to overhauls and full bicycle assembly for new builds. The basic bike wash starts at around P350, while overhauls can cost anywhere from P900 to P1,500, in case certain parts or components need to be replaced. They accept both cash and cashless payments (via BDO, BPI, GCash) as well as credit cards.

Built Cycles carries stock brands such as Ritchie’s, All City, Shimano, Jagwire, TRP, and Hitch Cycles. You can find parts such as lights and reflectors, bottle cages and bike bags, locks and security accessories, as well as saddle bags and frame bags.

If you want to grab coffee while waiting for bikes to get washed or serviced, Built Cycles has a casual brew cafe powered by Wideye Coffee that serves a range of hot and iced beverages. Signature drinks include a PB & J Latte (Peanut Butter and Jelly Syrup + Reese’s Puffs + Milk) and Black Soy Latte (Black Sugar + Almond + Soy Milk) for P220 each. They also serve Long Black, Flat White, Spanish Latte, Espresso Tonic, Mocha, Cold Brew, Choco Latte, and Hibiscus Mint Tea, with prices ranging from P150 to P190 (as of December 2025).

The shop in Quezon City is also near the well-known Maginhawa/Malingap food area for those in the mood for heavier meals. Restaurants with good grub you can easily visit nearby include Mister Kabab (Kalayaan Avenue), Ambai Modern Tambayan, and Gubat QC (Mayaman Street).

You can also drop by other bike-friendly cafes in the Maginhawa area, such as Old Ironside Coffee, De’Ja Brew, Our Little Cafe inside ShopLeaf Plant Studio, Street Kohi, Kohi Maginhawa, and Brown Sugar King, to name a few.
