Is it possible to walk Pasig City end-to-end in 2hr11min? Someone just did it in less

Last month, the local government of Pasig City shared that you can walk from one end of the city to the other in just 2hr11min. It was more than just a fun fact, though. It was a goal of sorts that can be achieved if the city is made more walkable.

But as work to improve mobility in Pasig City continues, a mountaineer decided to go ahead and put these claims to the test. Lito De Veterbo, also known as ‘Mister LNT’ or ‘Leave No Trace’ in the mountaineering community, set out with a group of friends to attempt to traverse Pasig City from its northermost tip to the southermost point and see just how long it would take. De Veterbo and his crew finished the walk in just 1hr57min, a full 14 minutes quicker than what was advertised, completely validating the data from the Pasig City government.

De Veterbo was joined by Annalie Agad, Liz Vizcarra, and Marion Dimain. Their group started the walk on August 15, 2026, in front of Top Bank at the Marikina-Pasig boundary and concluded it at Visitacion Bridge at the Pasig-Taguig boundary. The distance covered was approximately 9.4km.

De Veterbo is a veteran of these long-distance walks—he holds the Guinness World Record for the fastest crossing of the Philippines on foot. Granted, Pasig City’s claims state that the estimated time to cross the city would apply to an “able-bodied individual” and not a seasoned vet like De Veterbo, but this still goes to show that when a city is made walkable, crossing such a distance on foot isn’t as crazy as it sounds.

Actually, if you think about it, this walk puts a lot of things into perspective. For one, our cities aren’t that big, at least in terms of land area, for us to need a car to get from point A to point B all the time. Heck, if anything, it shows that in some cases, you don’t even need public transportation—as long as there are enough safe spaces for everybody to walk, moving people around urban spaces won’t even require wheels at all.

What do you think, people of the Internet? Would you like to see other cities traversed on foot as well? The comments section is open.
