Suzuki’s storied sport bike, the Hayabusa, has finally made its return via the new Suzuki Motorcycle Global Salon virtual platform.
The Japanese motorcycle company celebrated its 100th anniversary last year, which makes the 2021 Hayabusa Suzuki’s first new model for the next 100 years. Suzuki Motor Corporation president Toshihiro Suzuki led its launch conference on Friday, February 5.
The sport bike is powered by a 1,340cc DOHC liquid-cooled engine (Euro 5-compliant) with electric starter and a six-speed constant-mesh transmission. Its chassis features the Hayabusa twin-spar aluminum frame and swingarm. Suspension and brakes consist of KYB inverted cartridge forks and Brembo Stylema front calipers.
Among the highlights of the new Hayabusa is the Suzuki Drive Mode Selector Alpha’s (SDMS-a) five electronic control systems: power mode selector, anti-lift control, bi-directional quick shift, engine brake control, and motion track traction control.
The sport bike also boasts the Suzuki Intelligent Ride System (SIRS), which offers launch control, cruise control, motion track brake, slope dependent control, and hill hold control, as well as an active speed limiter and emergency stop signal—firsts in the industry and on a Suzuki motorcycle, respectively.
The 2021 Suzuki Hayabusa is available in Glass Sparkle Black/Candy Burnt Gold, Metallic Matte Sword Silver/Candy Daring Red, and Pearl Brilliant White/Metallic Matte Stellar Blue.
