BMW Motorrad has been launching brand-new models left and right since last year, and it’s showing no signs of slowing down. It’s back with more new bikes, albeit this time it’s scaled down a bit on the overhauls and full model changes.
The new bikes in discussion are the F series twins, the F900 R and F900 XR. For 2025, the German manufacturer has introduced visual updates and some technological and mechanical improvements for its naked and sport-touring bikes.

The F900 R comes standard in Snapper Rocks Blue Metallic, while the F900XR in Racing Red. The Triple Black version features a Blackstorm metallic finish while the Sport version pictured above (and below for the F900 XR) boasts Lightwhite with Racingblue metallic colorway. The latter two versions are available on both bikes.
The F900 R and F900 XR are still powered by the same 895cc liquid-cooled, in-line-two cylinder engine that produces 105hp at 8,500rpm and 92Nm of torque at 6,500 rpm. This is mated to a six-speed manual transmission. Multiple ride modes are still available, with ‘Dynamic’ now tuned to offer “even moreriding pleasures nd dynamics at a sporty pace.”

Dynamic Traction Control (DTC) is also still standard, and this comes with the engine drag torque control that prevents rear wheel spin or skidding when downshifting or abruptly releasing the throttle. BMW Motorrad ABS Pro is now also standard, enabling ABS-assisted braking at lean angles. Dynamic Brake Control also gets added to the mix, preventing unintentional acceleration when braking in difficult situations.
Both bikes are fitted with new 17-inch cast aluminum wheels that cut weight by 3kg in total. The new battery adds 0.8kg in weight savings.

BMW Motorrad has also improved the ergonomics of both bikes. The F900 R allows a sportier riding position now that’s closer to the front wheel thanks to the redesign of the handlebars, seat, and footrests. The F900 XR, meanwhile, boasts improved aerodynamics in the front fairing with a reworked wind deflector that further reduces wind pressure on the rider. The handguards also now offer improved protection than before.
New optional equipment for the F900 R include a sports silencer developed in collaboration with Akrapovic, milled footrests and foot levers, lockable soft cases, and a sport seat that adds 25mm, among others. The F900 XR gets the same optional accessories with the addition of a high windshield to the list. This windscreen is 30mm higher than standard.
