The 2026 Ducati Monster debuts with new V2 engine

The nameplate keeps the same formula, but with updated engineering

Now entering its fifth generation, the new Ducati Monster has arrived with a new and more powerful engine, along with a sportier redesign. However, amidst all the changes, Ducati has upheld the same philosophy behind the Monster: Combining superbike looks with practical, city-focused powertrains.

And the new 890cc V2 engine should serve that purpose dutifully. It makes 111hp and just over 91Nm of torque, while coming in at 4kg lighter than the engine on the fourth-generation Monster. This is mated to a six-speed transmission, loaded with Ducati Quick Shift 2.0, which should come in handy when the bike is in Sport mode.

Speaking of Sport mode, it configures the ABS Cornering function to maximize control when leaning. That particular function is adjustable up to three levels—for track days and more spirited rides. And all of this is supported by the Monster’s new Bremo braking system and Pirelli Diablo Rosso IV tires.

Other riding modes include Urban, Road, and Wet, as this is meant to be a complete city motorcycle. The ABS Cornering function should also be useful on city streets, but probably on its lightest setting.

The Monster is also supplied with a five-inch TFT display, loaded with the Ducati Multimedia System and advanced driver-assistance systems like cruise control and turn-by-turn navigation. The naked bike is also offered in a Monster+ variant that comes with a windshield and a passenger seat cover.

Aesthetically, both variants look similar with the Monster’s dramatic, two-piece headlight and long-sloping seat. While it certainly looks like a tall bike, riders actually sit at a relatively low 815mm, which can be even lowered to 775mm with the option of shorter seats.

The new bike is set to hit showrooms in February next year. Prices have also yet to be revealed. We’ll keep you posted when this bike finally makes its way to the Philippines.
