At the Esposizione Internazionale Ciclo Motociclo e Accessori last year, Honda unveiled two new concept bikes. Now, it appears one of those is becoming a reality, as Honda has just released photos of the EV Fun Concept being tested in Europe.

The bike is still wrapped in camo, but we now get a good glimpse of what the final production model might look like. Judging by the photos, the bike will not only be a ‘fun’ and fully electric model—it’ll look quite sleek, too.

We see design cues from the likes of the CB500 Hornet, with the shape of the front end adorned by a familiar light signature. Bar-end side mirrors, a slim frame, and a single-sided swingarm at the back can also be seen from the photos.

The EV Fun Concept will eventually become Honda’s fully electric midsize naked bike, which is a first for the brand. Also making its debut here is a fixed battery pack, something Honda has yet to use in a motorcycle before, as most of its electrified two-wheelers use swappable batteries. The new battery technology will support automotive-grade CCS2 charging, so it should be faster than the usual e-bikes and e-scooters that we usually see today.

Leading the project for Honda is Masatsugu Tanaka—he has worked with the brand’s motorcycles for two decades. He helped develop the likes of the CBR600F, CBR600RR, and CBR1000-RR Fireblade. He was also involved in the development of bikes such as the VFR series, the CRF1100L Africa Twin, and the NT1100.

“We developed Honda’s first electric Fun model under the key concept of ‘Be the Wind,’” said Tanaka. “It offers a quiet and smooth ride unique to EV models and a sense of unity with the machine that can make riders feel like the wind.”

“Building on my 20 years of experience with Honda’s ICE motorcycle models, we have applied the know-how accumulated over these years to the EV motorcycle, to create a model that is genuinely exciting to ride,” he added. “We have done extensive testing in Europe—where our customers are—to evaluate riding performance, charging, and daily usability, carefully refining every aspect of the model to ensure that our customers have a reliable ride that lets you focus on pure enjoyment. A new Honda Fun EV is coming soon, and we can’t wait for you to feel it.”

This should be exciting. We’ll be keeping an eye out for this one.
