If you’re a fan of the EM1 e: that was recently launched in the Philippines, Honda has just unveiled a couple of future electric models for its two-wheeled lineup at this year’s Esposizione Internazionale Ciclo Motociclo e Accessori (EICMA) in Milan. Say hello to the Honda EV Fun Concept and the Honda EV Urban Concept, which count toward the 30 electric offerings that the Japanese brand plans to launch globally by 2030.

Both bikes will be launched by 2026, which will mark Honda’s “period of market entry” into the electric motorcycle market. From now until then, however, the manufacturer will be previewing future models either in concept or production form.

The EV Fun Concept is actually scheduled to be commercialized in 2025. It will be a ‘naked sports model equivalent to a midsize internal combustion engine (ICE) motorcycle,’ and Honda’s first electric sports model that will be equipped with a fixed battery, unlike current bikes that use its swappable battery technology.

According to the company, the fixed-battery configuration keeps the chassis package slim and “easy to manage.” Electric propulsion in a sports model also promises a “quiet, vibration-free ride,” but the trademark riding and handling characteristics of Honda’s traditionally powered bikes should remain largely intact.

No specs have been provided at this point, save for that the eventual production model will be compatible with the same CCS2 fast chargers used by four-wheeled EVs. Range is estimated to be at least 100km, which will be “sufficient for city use.”

Even fewer details have been released about the EV Urban Concept, which supposedly “reconstructs from scratch Honda’s vision of what urban electric mobility should be.” The general shape and the flat seat are very reminiscent of the BMW CE 04, although the EV Urban looks shorter from end to end compared with BMW two-wheeler, which is even bigger in the metal than it appears in photos.

We’re not told, either, if this model will draw charge from something like the Mobile Power Pack e:, but given its positioning as a city bike, the use of swappable units would make sense, especially in urban areas with an established network of battery-swapping stations.
