Eighty years—that’s how long Vespa has been making motorcycles. For eight decades, the Italian manufacturer has captured the hearts of riders around the globe, establishing itself as one of the most iconic brands in the world, not just in the motorcycle industry.
To mark the occasion, the brand gathered fans and enthusiasts at its four-day event, Vespa Roma 2026 – 80 Years of an Icon, at Foro Italico in Rome. It was also there that it unveiled its new limited-edition model, the Vespa Edizione Ottantesimo.

Only 1,946 units of these will be produced, because...well...Vespa was born 80 years ago. In 1946. You get it, right? Anyway, this limited-edition Vespa is based on the GTS 310, the most powerful and technologically advanced model in the lineup.

The Vespa Edizione Ottantesimo features a steel monocoque body, an integral element of the brand’s iconic scooters. It sports a matte metallic grey finish with green accents on the seats, wheels, and dedicated graphics, all of which are references to the original production Vespas from decades past. No word yet on whether or not this will be available in the Philippines, but we’re not getting our hopes up.

The anniversary celebration was also host to various activities, including the presentation of a commemorative coin by the Istituto Poligrafico e Zecca dello Stato. There was also a Poste Italiane first-day cancellation ceremony where the anniversary was also marked with a special commemorative stamp.
Eight decades of Vespa motorcycling. Sooner rather than later, we’re going to see the brand eclipse the century mark. Happy 80th year, Vespa!
