This time, it's for a Honda Civic

TopGear.com.ph Philippine Car Market - Honda Civic wins 2010 Manila Auto Salon Best of Show-Custom Car award

Autoline Motorsports made it two-in-a-row after the Makati-based automotive aftermarket shop bagged the highly-coveted Manila Auto Salon Best of Show - Custom Car award a year after its Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution X entry won in the same competition.

Autoline's entry for the 2010 Manila Auto Salon is a heavily-modified 2007 FD Honda Civic owned by Enrico Ayllon, which also won first place for the Tuner Front-Wheel Drive category as well as the Best Engine Display special award.

Ayllon bought the Civic just last January and it served as his daily driver until the aftermarket tuning bug bit him two months and prompted him to bring the car to Autoline.

"At first, I only wanted a custom sound system for the Civic but Autoline convinced me to go all-out with modifying it," Ayllon said. "After I won second-place at this year's Trans Sport Show, that's when I got hooked into modifying it into what you see now."

Since then, the Civic has seen a raft of modifications from the sound system to the engine, which has been upgraded to boost the car's power output to nearly 400hp at the wheels. It also sports carbon fiber bodykits. If you're wondering about the total cost of all the modifications, let's just say that Ayllon could have bought four more Civics with it.

With the Civic serving as his trophy car, Ayllon now drives a Subaru WRX STI which has already received a carbon fiber bodykit and some minor engine tweaks. Asked if this would be his next project car, Ayllon smiled and said, "Maybe."
