If you’re a fan of Honda’s much-loved hatch, here’s some good news: The fourth generation of the Jazz will be revealed later this year.
Honda president and CEO Takahiro Hachigo mentioned the all-new hatchback’s imminent arrival in a speech about the company’s automobile direction. While there were no photos of the model shown nor any mention of concrete specs, here’s what we’ve learned so far:
- The all-new Jazz will make its global debut at this year’s Tokyo Motor Show. Expect that launch on opening day in October.
- Honda will be expanding its two-motor hybrid system to its entire lineup. The brand has designed a more compact version for smaller vehicles, and the Jazz will be the first to use it.
- The Jazz, along with the Civic, Accord, CR-V, and HR-V, accounts for 60% of Honda’s global car sales.
By 2025, Honda will reduce its number of trims and options globally to one-third of the current inventory. This means that the models we see in the Philippines will be a lot closer in spec to those sold in neighboring countries and regions. Question is, will our market be receptive to a hybrid variant?
