In addition to the official launch of two Forester models at the 2020 Singapore Motor Show, Subaru also had something else up its sleeve: the refreshed Impreza.
The latest Impreza’s front fascia has a new look, with its front grille and bumper, LED headlamps, and foglamps all getting some slight tweaks. The compact sedan rides on new 17-inch Magnetite Gray wheels as well. Inside, some high-quality stitchwork adorns the dashboard, and the A/C panel now sports a gloss-black finish. Meanwhile, the five-door hatchback version gets blacked-out taillights.
Under the hood, the Impreza sees no changes and still packs the same direct-injected 2.0-liter boxer engine that generates 154hp and 196Nm of torque, mated to a Lineartronic CVT. It does receive Subaru’s SI-Drive powertrain performance management system, which now adds Sport and Intelligent driving modes to the package, as well as a retuned suspension.
As for safety, the vehicle now also packs a plethora of passive and active safety tech, including a front-view monitor, speed-sensing door locks, rear seat alert, and reverse-linked tilt-down mirror on the passenger side for easier reverse parking. It also incorporates the four Subaru Core Technologies, namely: the Subaru Global Platform, Symmetrical All-Wheel Drive, Boxer engine, and EyeSight.
“With its styling upgrades, the new Impreza is even better looking than before. The addition of Sport and Intelligent driving modes also means it offers an improved driving experience,” said Glenn Tan, deputy chairman and managing director of Tan Chong International.
