The current generation Lexus NX has been with us since 2021. Since then, it has proven to be a popular buy for those looking for compact crossover with a more dynamic and luxurious touch.
Now that it’s been three years since its launch, Lexus reckoned now is a good time to introduce some upgrades and updates to one of its best-sellers. So, for the 2024 model year, a new variant has been added, along with a host of chassis improvements to keep it competitive.

The big news for ’24 is the introduction of the Overtrail edition. Yes, even the compact and unibody Lexus NX gets a more off-road oriented model. It’s not just a styling package, either. The company says there are several key differences between it and the standard NX models.
For starters, the Trail mode in the NX Overtrail, as well as other NX models, was given software improvements to cope better with rough terrain. But exclusive to this model is the tuning for its Adaptive Variable Suspension (AVS). It aims to give a better ride on rough terrain, as well as give it more off-road capability. Lexus even made the effort to give it all-terrain tires and a 15mm increase in ride height.

Outside, the Overtrail gets an exclusive color dubbed Moon Desert. It is then complemented by gloss black trims and matte black wheels. Another Overtrail exclusive item can be seen inside. The seats are trimmed in two-tone black and brown combination. Dubbed Monolith, it is then completed by light wood trims on the door.
As for the rest of the Lexus NX range, most models now get a 14-inch infotainment display screen, more USB-C ports, and the aforementioned chassis improvements. The latter includes additional bracing at the rear section of the chassis, a re-tuned suspension system, tweaks to the torque-sensing system for select models, and enhancements to noise and vibration isolation.

Powertrain choices as the same as before. It starts with the NX 250 with its 2.5-liter, four-cylinder making 202hp and 249Nm of torque. Up next is the NX 350's 2.4-liter turbo that produces 275hp and 430Nm of torque. Moving to the hybrids, the NX 350h uses an electrified version of the 2.5-liter engine, doling out 240hp. At the top of the range is the NX 450h+ plug-in hybrid with its boosted 2.4-liter and electric motors giving it a combined output of 304hp.
