Fiat has released the first image of a new lemon tree it intends to launch later this year, citing it’ll be the most ‘lemony lemon tree’ in its 125-year history.
Kidding. It’s the new Fiat Panda! Or rather, the new Fiat Grande Panda! And Fiat’s reinvention of its Eighties icon does indeed look… zingy. Full of flavor.

It’ll be a supermini about the size of the old Fiesta, Fiat calling the exterior ‘special’, citing a “combination of structured lines and soft and bold surfaces that emphasise the robust wheel arches”. It’s certainly a very bold, blocky interpretation of perhaps one of the world’s very finest everyday cars to come from Italy.
The front’s made up of a sort of cube design, with daytime running lights that turn into indicators, flanks that apparently recall the “strength” of the Eighties Panda, sloping roof racks, 3D-printed Panda lettering that doffs its cap to the hardy old Panda 4x4, and massive arches.
It’ll sit on Stellantis’s ‘STLA-Smart’ platform, allowing it to be sold across the globe in both hybrid and electric guises. We’re promised space for five humans inside with a “robust” interior volume.
And it’ll come with a robust set of colours, too, including… a very lemony yellow. We’ll get more details and see more of the Big Boi later this year.
