A few months ago, photos of the 2025 Ford Territory surfaced online. It came from Chinese transport ministry files, so there wasn’t a lot of information to go about. Fast forward to today and the American automaker has made it official.
Ford has officially unveiled the new Territory over in China, and there are a whole host up updates and upgrades to be seen. Called the Equator Sport in its home market, Ford China calls it an all-new model. However, it appears to be more like a heavily facelifted version of the current model.

The most obvious changes are seen at the front. The entire fascia has been redesigned, almost to a point that it’s unrecognizable from the current version. Its headlights are now Ford’s signature C-shaped units, while the grille is slimmer and smaller than before. As a result, the front bumper has also been reshaped to accommodate the new look.

It’s worth pointing out that the rest of the body appears unchanged. The fenders are slightly different, though, as the sides of the headlights meant it needed new stamping. New wheels designs are also part of the 2025 updates, along with styling tweaks to the rear bumper.

Inside, it looks the same as the present model. The wide floating screens are still present, the same with the center stack layout and door panel design. However, we did notice that the screen displays get a welcome overhaul. The driver’s side instrument cluster is now more in tune with Ford’s global look, while the infotainment system has a new main screen and menu.

But the most important addition to the 2025 Ford Territory is the plug-in hybrid option. It pairs a 1.5-liter engine to a single electric motor that gives it a combined output of 218hp. Its battery capacity and range have yet to be revealed. That said, the crossover still retains the 1.5-liter turbo as seen in the local version. However, power has risen from 158hp and 248Nm to 168hp and 265Nm of torque.
