The current-generation Hyundai Creta had the odd distinction of having two different looks for various markets. The model sold in Southeast Asia was noticeably different from the one available in India, Latin America, and Africa.

Now, there’s a unified design, and Southeast Asia is finally getting it. That’s because the updated model has just rolled off the assembly line in Indonesia. Does this mean the Philippines will get it soon? It seems that way.

The ASEAN-spec Creta gets the same look we first saw in the Indian-market model. With that, it comes with a totally redesigned front end with boxier lighting elements and a new grille. Also new is the addition of the N Line variant that sports a unique and more dynamic design.

Its doors and fenders are largely unchanged. However, the rear gets new taillights and a reshaped tailgate. The N Line version gets a more aggressive-looking exterior treatment. Standard models roll on 17-inch alloy wheels while the sportier variant gets larger 18-inch units.

Inside, the Southeast Asian model benefits from an overhauled dashboard. The digital instrument cluster and the infotainment screen are now integrated into one panel. Styling elements have been added to the passenger side, and the entire center stack has been reconfigured. Opt for the N Line and it gains red ambient lighting, more red highlights, and deeper bucket seats.

Other features of interest? Higher trim levels get a panoramic sunroof as standard. Ventilated front seats are a welcome addition given how hot it gets in our region. The Bose sound system will be appreciated by audiophiles, and there’s even an on-board air purifier.

Moving to powertrains, we can finally confirm that the turbo option is available. Reserved for the N Line, this 1.5-liter turbocharged engine makes 158hp and 253Nm of torque, and shifts with a seven-speed dual-clutch transmission. Sadly, the six-speed manual found on the Indian model is not offered.

For those who prefer to take things slowly, the non-turbocharged 1.5-liter powerplant is still around. That one produces a milder 113hp and 144Nm, shifting with an Intelligent Variable Transmission (IVT), which is Hyundai-speak for CVT.
