If it’s a car for the family that you need, MPVs and minivans are hard to beat. The Hyundai Custin is one of the more underrated choices in the country. We enjoyed its smooth ride, spacious interior, and flexible practicality.
The Custin made its world premiere in late 2021 and is known as the Custo in China. It took a while before it eventually landed in Philippines, being released to local customers in the latter half of 2023.

But after a couple of years in the Chinese market, the Custin is now due for a bit of a facelift. With that, Hyundai has released the first set of photos of the updated minivan. Full specifications weren’t given yet, but at least we know what it looks like.
The most obvious changes are seen at the front end with a new grille design. Its corner trims then get a mesh pattern and it seems to have lost the foglights. The bumper also gets a bit of a tweak with a mildly reshaped apron.
Other changes include a new set of wheel designs, and we couldn’t help but notice the two-tone paint finish seen in the photos. A new variant, perhaps?
Inside, it looks largely identical to the current Custin. That said, the touchscreen infotainment system’s main menu seems to have been redesigned and rearranged. It’s still 10.4 inches, but we sure hope it features new software.
It now looks like the Custin is available with a black interior, as seen in the first batch of photos at Hyundai has released. We also noticed a new (faux) woodgrain pattern on the dash as well. The rest of the cabin appears unchanged, but we can’t be certain until the company releases more details.
Engine choices are likely to be carried over from the current model. Presently, it’s a choice between a 1.5-liter turbo like what we have locally, or a larger 2.0-liter turbo. The 1.5-liter makes 168hp and 253 Nm of torque, while the 2.0-liter puts out 233hp and 353Nm. Both are mated to an eight-speed automatic.
Full specifications and details of the new Hyundai Custin will be released on August 26, 2024. By then, we’ll know the full extent of updates given to this minivan.
