The last decade in the automotive world has seen a dramatic increase in downsized engines. Large capacity naturally aspirated engines are dwindling, replaced by turbocharged engines or hybrid powertrains.
The all-new Hyundai Palisade is no exception to that. It has now been confirmed that V6 power will be dropped from the large crossover. Not only that, it’s ditching diesel as well.

With that, the redesigned Palisade follows the lead of its smaller brother, the Santa Fe. From now on, the flagship SUV will only come with turbocharged four-cylinder engines or hybrid power. It’s a sign of the times over at Hyundai as it marches forward towards its efficiency and electrification goals.
Powering the 2025 Palisade will be a 2.5-liter turbocharged four-cylinder mill. The loss of two cylinders have resulted in a slight horsepower loss from 291hp from the old 3.8-liter V6 to 278hp in the new model. On the flipside, the turbo engine provides heaps more torque, something more crucial in these large crossovers and SUVs. It rises from 355Nm to 422Nm.

As for the hybrid, it uses the same 2.5-liter turbo as a base but mated to a single electric motor. The result is a total system output of 329hp, easily making it the most powerful Palisade variant available. Hyundai also claims a range of 1,000 kilometers for its hybrid flagship SUV.
The second-generation Hyundai Palisade is now available for pre-order in its home market of South Korea. There, prices start at 43,830,000 won for the 2WD 2.5-liter turbo and tops out at 64,240,000 won for the all-wheel drive hybrid Calligraphy variant. At current exchange rates that would be around P1,740,000 to P2,600,000 sans local taxes.

It's unknown if Hyundai Philippines will bring in the redesigned Palisade locally. We did put it in our wishlist of 2025 car launches so we're keeping our fingers crossed.
