We don’t come across spy shots very often. But when we do, we make sure it’s a big deal. In this case, we recently spotted a batch of new Isuzu MU-X units fresh off the boat, presumably headed to dealerships soon.

With that, it pretty much confirms the impending launch of this model. Well, we did put it on our 2025 wishlist, after all.

Should Isuzu Philippines launch it soon, we’re likely to become just the second market to get the new-look MU-X. There’s also a good chance that we’re the first left-hand drive market for it. Perhaps a sign of how much Isuzu global prioritizes the Philippines?

That aside, the units on the transporter appear to be that of the LS-E variant, although it’s difficult to tell if these are 4x4 or 4x2 units. We do see the ‘turbine’ alloy wheels fitted to all the SUVs there, at least the ones that are visible. It’s still unknown if the RS variant offered in Thailand will come here, but at least we know that Isuzu is stocking up its popular SUV.

As for what’s new, it gets a far bigger exterior changes compared to the last facelift. The front fascia has been totally redesigned with new headlights, grille, and bumper. Over at the back, it gets full-width tail lights although the tailgate shape remains the same.

We’re expecting the same interior updates for the Philippine-spec 2025 Isuzu MU-X. Higher trim levels get a fully digital instrument cluster, along with a larger infotainment screen. But the big news here is the addition of electric power steering, replacing the old, and somewhat heavy, hydraulic setup.

Isuzu Mu-X with the new 2.2-liter Maxforce engine

We’re almost certain that the new MU-X will continue offering the 3.0-liter turbodiesel. That said, it is yet to be determined if our market will benefit from the recent update as seen in the Thai-spec model. It’s also unknown if our market will get the new 2.2-liter turbodiesel or stick with the 1.9-liter unit.

Either way, we just have one wish for the local-market MU-X, and that’s a rear differential lock for the 4x4 variant. Given that the D-Max finally got it in the recent update, we’d be disappointed if the MU-X doesn’t benefit from that.
