The subcompact crossover market is thriving. Thanks to relatively high ground clearance and attainable prices, it seems that more consumers are buying these instead of a traditional sedan.

Locally, it’s the Toyota Raize that sits at the top of the sales charts. Most of its competitors hail from China, although South Korean automaker Kia has thrown its hat into the ring with the Sonet.

But there’s a good chance that the Raize might see a Japanese rival soon. That’s because the Nissan Magnite has just been updated, and it’s going to be a proper global model. Not only that, Nissan has also confirmed left-hand drive production for the subcompact crossover.

Does this mean it’s coming to the Philippines? Nothing has been confirmed yet, but teasers from Nissan Philippines’ socials do hint that. With the availability of left-hand drive, it’s starting to look like a greater possibility. That also means that the Magnite will also be offered in 47 new international markets, bringing the total to 65.

So, what’s new in the 2025 Nissan Magnite. Of course, there are styling tweaks to keep it looking bang up to date. There are new headlights, a wider grille, and a redesigned bumper at the front. New wheel designs and color choices have been added, while rear gets updated LED tail lights and a reshaped bumper.

Inside, the dashboard layout remains largely the same. However, there are new color combinations available, as well as new seat trims. The infotainment system has been updated, and the instrument cluster has been refreshed for a more modern look.

There are some interesting goodies for the top-spec model. One can get an Arkamys sound system for extra listening pleasure, for instance. Also available is ambient lighting, an air ionizer, and even a dashcam. Most variants come with six airbags, says Nissan. There was no mention if basic advanced driver assist systems are included.

There are two powertrain options available for the new Magnite. Both use the familiar 1.0-liter, three-cylinder engine with the non-turbocharged version making 71hp and the turbocharged one putting out 99hp. The latter is the same engine used in the Nissan Almera. Transmission options include a five-speed manual, an automated manual transmission for the non-turbo, and a CVT for the turbo.
