The all-new Nissan Patrol is upon us. After 14 years of waiting, Nissan’s full-sized SUV finally gets a comprehensive facelift. So far, we like what we’re seeing, and it’s only a matter of time before it lands in the Philippines.
Based on the teaser shown by Nissan Philippines, we might not have to wait much longer for it. The company has hinted that it will be previewed at the upcoming 2024 Philippine International Motor Show opening soon.

But Nissan is cooking something even hotter for the redesigned Patrol. It has been confirmed that the all-new SUV will be getting a Nismo version down the line. Nissan's senior vice president of global design, Alfonso Albaisa, was the one who shared the good news.
Albaisa later described the next-gen Nissan Patrol Nismo as ‘a beast’ to the media that were present during the product event. The chief designer then said that the high-performance SUV will be offered to more markets given the demand and popularity of the outgoing Patrol Nismo.

Nissan already has a solid foundation to give the Patrol more power. After all, its 3.5-liter twin-turbo V6 is derived from the Nissan GT-R’s 3.8-liter twin-turbo. But as it is, the standard engine that’s already in the SUV packs a punch with 425hp and 700Nm of torque. For reference, the old 5.6-liter V8 in the Nismo-fied Patrol made 428hp and 560Nm.
So, how much power could we expect from the next-gen Patrol Nismo? Of course, Nissan isn’t saying anything yet. But given that the previous version had a seven percent increase over the standard model, that might be a good place to start.

If that would be the case for the new one, we might see about 460hp from the large SUV. For all we know, that figure could even be higher given the tuning potential of the new engine.
