Nissan has revealed the all-new Sylphy at Auto Shanghai 2019, and we’re already hoping this car makes it to our shores. Not only does it look sleeker, it’s also smarter, plusher, and supposedly more efficient and better to drive, too.
Outside, the sedan carries a sportier design that we think can compete with more energetic-looking models like the Honda Civic and the Mazda 3. Angry swept-back headlights flank the Japanese car manufacturer’s signature V-Motion grille, which features an intricate honeycomb mesh design. Down low are some edgy foglight housings, and the car runs on classy-looking wheels.
Adding to the Sylphy’s sleek vibe is a lower stance, which Nissan says provides better aerodynamics (the vehicles drag coefficient is just 0.26) and a lower center of gravity. The carmaker has likewise improved on interior amenities with a three-outlet A/C system and an eight-inch center display that shows pertinent driving information.
Underneath the hood of the 2019 Sylphy is a new HR16DE Gen3 intelligent drive engine mated to an Xtronic transmission. This, Nissan says, boosts engine stability and efficiency. The manufacturer also claims it has enhanced the sedan’s steering and suspension to provide a better drive, though no specific details on this were released.
Finally, the tech. There’s an “Integrated Dynamic Control Module” that fiddles with the brakes when the car encounters bumps or road imperfections. This supposedly improves ride quality, but we’ll believe it when we experience it effectively handling everyday EDSA for ourselves. Other safety bits include Intelligent Trace Control, Intelligent Ride Control, and Emergency Brake for Pedal Misapplication.
Are you digging the all-new Sylphy’s package, and would you like to see it land here in the Philippines?
