The Bangkok International Motor Show has seen many important launches from Ford over the years, and for the event’s 2026 iteration, the American carmaker’s showcase is the latest variant of the Ranger in the region: the 2026 Ford Ranger Super Duty.
And this beefed-up pickup really is ready for duty. Under the hood, the 3.0-liter turbocharged diesel engine has been “specially calibrated,” Ford says, and gets a redesigned cooling system to help it cope with tougher working conditions. Exact power figures haven’t been released as of this writing—we’ll update this story once available. The fuel tank has a 130-liter capacity, which a workhorse like this needs.

The Super Duty uses a larger transfer case with a low-range gearset that matches that of the F-Series Super Duty. The rear suspension geometry has been revised, and the chassis itself benefits from a thicker frame, rails, and crossmembers. There’s also a steel underbody cover as standard, while the steel bumper can be added as an option.

Ford says the maximum ground clearance is 299mm, versus the standard Ranger’s 235mm. The Super Duty rides on eight-stud wheel hubs and 33-inch all-terrain tires. Larger brakes guarantee better stopping power, especially when the truck is fully loaded.

Speaking of load, the Ranger Super Duty boasts a 4,500kg gross vehicle mass—the maximum allowable weight of a vehicle, including any load it’s carrying. Its gross combined mass—the maximum allowable weight, plus a trailer—is 8,000kg. It has a braked towing capacity of 4,500, and a maximum payload capacity of 1,982kg.
Now, for some unfortunate news: We have it on good authority that the Ford Ranger Super Duty is unlikely to reach Philippine shores, most likely because midsize pickups in our country are used more as leisure vehicles than actual haulers. But do you think it has a place in the local market?
