The BMW iX3—specifically the dual-motor iX3 50 xDrive—has appeared on the Department of Energy’s list of recognized electric vehicles. With Thailand getting the fully electric SUV just a few months ago, could BMW Philippines be lining it up here?
A glance at the DOE’s homologation papers will show dimensions, power figures, and a link to BMW’s global press release—no public documents from BMW Philippines just yet. The iX3 50 xDrive is listed with a 113.4kWh battery, and based on the ‘xDrive’ in its name, it has dual electric motors delivering a combined output of 469hp and 645Nm of torque.
Data from international markets lists the 0-100kph time at only 4.9sec, with top speed coming in at 210kph. Equally as impressive is the 800km of driving range. That’s more than the Tesla Model 3 Long Range, which has the most range of any full EV available locally at 750km.

As for charging, the iX3 comes equipped with both AC and DC charging, topping up from 10% to 80% in about 21 minutes with a fast charger. Additionally, the battery can gain around 372km of range after charging for only 10 minutes. Size-wise, the iX3 is considered a compact luxury crossover measuring 4,782mm long, 1,895mm wide, and 1,635mm tall. It has similar dimensions to a Honda CR-V , but with a much longer wheelbase at 2,895mm.
Of course, we can’t talk about the new iX3 without mentioning the design philosophy behind it: BMW’s Neue Klasse.
